Among the search for nice cafe, i came upon this nice italian bistro called La Villa. Its pretty like a villa, infront of it is a big grassland. The interior decoration has the feel of European style. The food are more expensive so for students like us who like to go for good food yet must be affordable, our next best friend is Set Lunch! As i went there quite some time back, i couldnt really remember the price of the set lunch but its really more worth it then ala carte! The set lunch consist of starter, appetizer, mains, coffee/tea and a dessert!
Loaf of bread with vinegar-olive dressing. Beef Carpaccio with shaved Parmesan and Lemon dressing. Even though the beef is raw but its very fresh and sweet, and with it thinly sliced, its like eating fresh sashimi! Another of the appetizer, Poached Eggs with grilled Vegetable Salad and Summer Black Truffle dressing, its quite a unique taste, first time i’m eating poached egg this way. Sometime you wonder how do i eat it, gulp the egg down or break the yolk? HAHA. Next up is our mains. Linguine Pasta in White Wine sauce, Zucchini and Tiger Prawns. Pasta in white wine sauce is becoming rare! I miss it! The linguine is done just al dente! The prawns were fresh. and i just love the white wine base! Leave you a sweet and tantalizing feeling.
Another our main is Grilled Lamb Rack with Brown Pepper sauce, Ratatouille and roasted Potatoes. There’s a lil too much fats for this lamb rack to my liking. But overall the lamb is done just nice, soft, melt in the mouth. The sauce were quite strong and rich too, probably to mask the strong lamb taste that it might have. And of course, tea and desserts complete the meal! We had strawberry panna cotta and chocolate cheesecake. This strawberry panna cotta is different from the usual, its firmer in texture, feel like you are eating mousse cake! After a rich main course, its nice to have this refreshing and sourish dessert that cleanses off the oily mouthfeel lingering around. The chocolate cheesecake was okay to me, dont attract me exceptionally. Its like original cheesecake with a crushed oreo base and chocolate layering at the top.
La Villa is currently relocating due to the acquired land from SLA for the building of Thomson Line. So probably you guys can check them out after they have found a new place!
