Discover Okinawa!

Made a trip to Okinawa last December. Okinawa is located southernmost of Japan, consisting of numerous small islands and relatively close to Taiwan. Okinawa is pretty subtropical where during Winter times, temperature are not extremely cold, pretty bearable and a jacket which can withstand chilly winds will be more than sufficient. Pretty country filled with crystal clear blue island and beaches; and traces of cultural and historic sites. Somewhere that is rather chillax and laid back. Accessibility may be challenging. They only have one Yul Rail line, which connect mainly in the main area of Naha and does bring you to Shurijo Castle. Other than that, if you would like to go to places like America Village, you got to transfer to a bus at Naha Bus Interchange. Customer service at the bus interchange, is pretty helpful and friendly! So not to worry too much. Alternatively, other mode of transports will include renting a car or joining their day tours. One of the tour operators I will highly recommend will be the Jumbo Tours. Jumbo Tours are professional and though the guide communicate in Japanese, they have hearing aids with different languages such as English, Chinese, Korean, Russian etc and their various tour packages are pretty extensive and good. A and D course complement one another and will cover the main attractions of Naha – Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, Kouri Island, Cape Manza, Nago Pineapple Park, Okinawa World, Shurijo Castle, Cape Chinen, Ryukyu Glass Village, and Outlet shopping or Itoman Shopping. Another worthy to join tour is their Orca Underwater tour or the seasonal whale watching experience. It will truly be an eye-opener! It is good to check out what local festival they might have during the period when you are there. It will be a rather good experience to immerse in their local event. Since it was Christmas when we were there, we manage to catch their Winter Illumination at Itoman! The lights were amazingly mesmerizing.

When you are done with all the sightseeing, you can head down to Heiwa Shopping Village to get your goodies or any souvenirs. Okinawa beside being known for their seafood, in actual fact, their Yakitori, Yakiniku and Shabu Shabu are equally famous and good!

Till then! Will provide you with more info on how to get around to the specific attractions! Watch out for this space 🙂
